Last updated: 20 October 2026
This policy explains how UV Money uses personal information when you visit uvmoney.co, contact us or apply for or receive support for services through us. It also covers directors, beneficial owners, authorised users and cardholders connected with business customers.
1. Who we are and how we use your information
Who is responsible
UV Money is a trading name of UV Fintech Limited, company number 17194586, registered in England and Wales, with registered office at 16 Ingestre Place, London, W1F 0JJ (“we”, “us”). We are a controller when we decide why and how personal information is used for our website and customer relationships.
Contact our Privacy Contact at privacy@uvmoney.co or write to the company at the address above.
Our relationship with Equals Money
The relevant Equals Money entity named in your service terms provides the regulated payment, foreign exchange or card services. It is a controller for its own service and regulatory processing. Read the applicable notice at https://equalsmoney.com/privacy for UK services or https://equalsmoney.com/en-be/privacy for EEA services.
Where we process information solely on Equals Money’s documented instructions, we act as its processor. This policy covers UV’s own controller activities.
Information we collect and its sources
Depending on your interaction and our role, we handle:
- Identity and contact details, including name, date of birth, nationality, address, email and telephone number.
- Application and business details, including occupation, business activities, ownership, authority to act, supporting documents and verification results.
- Account and transaction information available to us for administration or support, including account identifiers, balances, payment instructions and transaction references.
- Enquiries, support correspondence, complaints, preferences and consent records.
- Website and device information, including IP address, browser, pages visited, access times, security logs and cookie information.
We obtain information from you; Equals Money and its appointed providers; your business or authorised representatives; and public business registers such as Companies House. If you give us another person’s information, you must be entitled to share it and should give them this policy.
Equals’ identity checks may include document images and a biometric selfie comparison, as explained in its notices.
Purposes and lawful bases
- Enquiries, onboarding assistance, account administration and support: our legitimate interests in responding to requests and managing customer and business relationships. Processing necessary for a contract directly between you and UV relies on contractual necessity.
- Website security, fraud prevention, business administration and legal claims: our legitimate interests in operating and protecting our business, systems and customers, balanced against your rights.
- UV’s tax, accounting, data protection and legally required disclosures: compliance with the legal obligations applying to UV. Equals’ regulatory obligations are covered by its own notices.
- UV marketing by email or SMS: your separate, optional consent. Unsubscribe in a message or contact us to withdraw it. Necessary service messages continue.
- Optional cookies and related personal data: consent under our Cookie Policy.
We identify information required by law or contract when requesting it. Without the identity, application or contact information needed for your request, we or Equals may be unable to proceed. Marketing consent is optional.
2. How we share and protect your information
Who we share it with
Where necessary, we share information with the relevant Equals entity and its providers; suppliers of hosting, IT security, storage, communications and support; professional advisers and insurers; authorities where disclosure is lawful; and prospective business purchasers under appropriate safeguards. Providers acting for us must follow contractual data protection requirements. Business account administrators may access relevant user and account information.
International transfers
Restricted transfers require an applicable adequacy arrangement or appropriate safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum to EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Where EU transfer rules apply, we use the relevant EU arrangements. Contact us for details and copies of applicable safeguards.
Retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, applicable record-keeping duties and legal claims. We then delete or anonymise it. Confirmed retention periods or criteria are set out below.
| Records | Retention period or criteria |
|---|---|
| Enquiries and unsuccessful applications | Up to 12 months after the enquiry or application is closed, unless a longer period is necessary for a complaint, investigation or legal obligation. |
| Customer records, support and complaints | Core customer and complaint records are retained during the relationship and for up to six years after it ends or the complaint is resolved, where necessary for legal claims. Routine support information is deleted earlier when no longer needed. |
| Verification documents and results | Records processed on Equals Money’s behalf are retained and deleted according to its documented instructions. UV retains additional copies only where separately necessary and justified. |
| Security logs and backups | Security logs: up to 90 days, unless needed for an investigation. Deleted information remaining in backups is overwritten within 90 days. |
| Marketing and consent records | Marketing information is retained while consent remains valid and the information is relevant. Consent evidence is retained as needed to demonstrate compliance. Minimal opt-out records are kept for as long as needed to prevent unwanted marketing. |
A legal hold or unresolved investigation may justify longer retention. We limit access and use appropriate technical and organisational safeguards against loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
Automated decisions
Equals and its providers may use automated identity and financial crime checks; its notices explain their operation and consequences.
3. Your rights and privacy choices
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your information. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. Applicable safeguards also apply to significant decisions made solely by automated means.
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can object at any time to direct marketing, including related profiling. Contact our Privacy Contact to exercise these rights.
We may verify your identity. Rights requests are normally free and answered within one month, subject to lawful extensions or adjustments, which we explain where applicable. Some information must be retained for legal obligations or claims.
Complaints and updates
You can raise a privacy complaint with us or complain directly to the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/. Where EU GDPR applies, you may also complain to the relevant EEA supervisory authority, including where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred.
Our separate Cookie Policy explains device technologies and your choices. Other providers’ notices apply to their separate services. We update the date above when this policy changes and bring material changes to your attention, obtaining fresh consent where required.
